After all the betting is done, the remaining players reveal their hands and the player with the strongest hand wins the pot. In some cases, players may agree before the game starts to share any money that is left in a special fund called a kitty. This is usually used to pay for new decks of cards and food and drink for the players.
If the players have a tie, they look at each other’s cards to determine who has the highest. The higher card wins, but this is not always the case because sometimes there are multiple pairs or better hands. Ties are usually broken in poker by looking at the highest pair, then the second highest pair and so on. In some games, the highest three cards break ties as well.
